“Although he has departed, his contribution and legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations,” the President said in the message, urging the children and grandchildren of the late Kanyarwanda to uphold and continue the good values and work he championed during his lifetime.

In his personal remarks, Tayebwa also conveyed his personal condolences to the family and thanked the people of Bushenyi for their continued support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) during the recent general elections.

Tayebwa noted that despite his frail health, the late Kanyarwanda remained committed to civic duty. According to him, the elderly teacher was wheeled to a polling station on January 15, 2026, where he cast his vote for his long-time friend, President Museveni.

Tayebwa further told mourners that while the government had made significant progress over the years, the next term would prioritize fighting poverty across the country.

“We have made progress, but the coming term will focus on fighting poverty. It is our new guerrilla war,” he said, echoing the President’s call for renewed efforts toward economic transformation.

Tayebwa further encouraged citizens to work closely with their leaders and actively participate in development initiatives rather than viewing political leaders as the sole providers of support.
